Travelling with your dog is one of life’s simple pleasures. Our cabins sit at the base of Mt Buller beside the Delatite River and Mansfield State Forest — a perfect base for river walks, forest tracks, and lazy afternoons with your pup. Below are practical tips, local dog‑friendly cafés and pubs, and an important note about Mt Buller access.
Pack the Essentials
Bring the familiar: bed or blanket, favourite toy. Food & gear: bowls, lead, poo bags, towel. Health: meds and a copy of vaccination records.
Cabin tip: We provide dog bowls and a few extras, but bringing your dog’s own bedding helps them settle and keeps the cabin clean for everyone.
Safety and Wildlife
Keep dogs on lead around the settlement and on nearby trails to protect native wildlife (kangaroos, wombats, deer, and birds) and to keep your dog safe. Always carry water and a collapsible bowl on longer walks.
Settling In
When you arrive, let your dog explore the cabin slowly. Show them where their bed and water are, and give them a short walk to burn off travel energy before settling in for the evening.
Important: Mt Buller Access
Dogs are not permitted on Mt Buller. This includes the resort area and any vehicle access beyond the resort entry gates. Instead, enjoy the many dog‑friendly alternatives nearby such as Mirimbah, the Delatite River, and the forest tracks around Sawmill Settlement.
Keep Things Clean
- Wipe muddy paws before coming inside
- Keep dogs off beds and furniture where possible
- Dispose of poo bags in the outdoor bin provided
Supervision
Please do not leave dogs unattended in the cabin for extended periods. New environments can cause anxiety or unexpected behaviour; taking your dog with you when you go out helps avoid stress and disturbance to neighbours.
Dog‑Friendly Cafés & Restaurants Nearby
Enjoy a meal or coffee with your dog at these local spots — all within a short drive of the cabins. Dogs are generally welcome in outdoor seating areas; please be courteous and keep dogs leashed.
Final Tips
Be mindful of neighbours, keep barking to a minimum, and enjoy the many dog‑friendly walks and river spots nearby. If you have any questions before arrival, contact us — we’re happy to help you plan a relaxed, dog‑friendly stay.
