Bushwalks range in duration from under an hour to multiple days, but no matter how far you hike the tranquillity of the Australian bush is bound to ease worries and enliven the spirit.

And for a really unique experience, you can visit one of the mountain huts scattered through the High Country hills. So head out and go hiking along crystal clear rivers or stride up a mountain peak. Mansfield State Forest and the Delatite River are 800 meters walk from the cabins, with plenty of family and dog-friendly walks.

Lake Eildon and its five feeder rivers – the Big, Goulburn, Jamieson, Howqua and Delatite Rivers – are an angler’s paradise. Trout, perch, redfin, and Murray cod all call our waters home. For some, the lure of the High Country is not in our sweeping alpine vistas, but in our iconic mountain rivers and lakes.
